I was “simply joking” and trying to make a point that I am one in favor of Freedom and Equality and for me; hiding was equivalent to being a Jew in Nazi Germany (or many other examples).  We have a unique opportunity which is very likely an historical opportunity and a once in a lifetime chance; to actually embrace an era where freedom and equality is obtainable within our lifetimes.  To hide is to admit we have something to be ashamed of or to admit we are less because we fear and that is not so.

Now there are some that make our tasks harder.  When transgendered woman dress up like drag queens and act as such, and transgendered men act equally so; we are sending the same old message that will never be acceptable (unless you are in NY or SanFran, etc.).  (I can’t say that I agree with this part!  While I dress casually or conservatively, I believe everyone has the right to express themselves as they see fit – if it obviously doesn’t interfere with other’s rights. – Closeted Tranny) But for those who are not of the “notice me or else crowd” we can achieve real freedom or as close as anyone else in our present day America.

My comment above is not addressed to people with different tastes, etc.  We all must admit there is always someone prettier and uglier and more or less talented, etc.  It’s not about abilities or looks, it’s about actions.  If we present ourselves as equals and respectively so, we have every right to expect the same response.  We are not in a perfect world and none of us can claim perfection, but we can claim our right to exist without persecution.

People may say it is easier for me for whatever reason yet I disagree.  I lost my spouse, my children, a good portion of my business, my military honors, my home, my savings…and on and on.  Some may say it’s easier for me because I have a “deal with it” mentality.  I am just as afraid and just as scared as anyone else.  Maybe my military training gives me an edge, BS; you can get better training at Best Buy or Wal Mart.  I could go on but the only edge that I may consent to having is my inner feeling of “I will survive, damnit” and all of us are capable of that same inner conviction.

Simply put, it costs every individual a different though similar cost to stand for equality and it is not easier for one or harder for the other; it is simply different for each of us.  Yet, within our diversity we are united in this same cause for freedom.  Martin Luther King did not have it easier nor was he the most talented and even if he was, he still gave his life for his cause.  Just in case anyone missed the latest in our news world; we have a black president!  His cause is also our cause, it is not for racial equality but gender equality.  I do not believe that race is more important than gender or vice versa, they are equals.  I do believe that we will not see a Transgender person in the White House in our time, but I do believe we will experience a growing acceptance and ability to live our lives freely within our lifetime.

The above was a prelude to this:

We can not hide as a movement, as a united people and ever expect equality or freedom.  Individuals may hide and walk their path because we are all on this journey and we are all at different stages.  I do not expect that everyone will run to their family and employers and out themselves because of my eloquent discourse above; I do expect a group, and association, an organization, etc. to be open, noticed, and with a united voice they can say; “we exist, we have a right to exist, we are equals and we have the right to life-liberty- and the pursuit of happiness as any other person.”  I also believe that these same groups (like ours) should have representatives who are willing to take the spotlight so that those who are not yet there in their journey can advance on their journey quicker.  It’s like an expressway through town or a winding road in the mountains.  It was not easy to build either but now people do not of necessity climb mountains to get to the other side or cross rivers and forests to go from one place to another.  Someone “paved the way” so that we now, without thought; take the fastest route available with relative ease.  The journey is the same, the way and the quickness for which we arrive at our destination; is enhanced by those who went before us.  The road has been cut out, the ground has been leveled, trees have been cleared, bridges have been built, etc.  In our generation and in a vast majority of our cities; we have the ability to travel our journey with limited obstructions.

It’s time we introduced ourselves officially and said “Hello, we are the transgender community, we are millions of your citizenry, we are your neighbors, your teachers, your police, your government, your grocer, etc. and we accept the responsibility of our freedom and equality.”

So, having said all that: we should not give an annonymous gift ever.  As a group, our representatives should give a donation of food, clothing, etc. as a united people!  This is my opinion and as always your more than entitled to it.

Remember, I love all of you as a sister, as a fellow traveler, as a friend, however; if anyone is offended by what I have written I just wanted you to know that I may have been drunk and out of my mind when I wrote this and therefore cannot take full responsibility for my actions and words (unless everyone really likes what I said.)
